The Lunar New Year seems more like the real New Year to me.

I was having a reunion dinner with two of my uncles and their families and it struck me – in the middle of waiting for the herbal chicken and steamed fish, all through the conversations on politics and corruption and fellow medical acquaintances (both uncles are doctors and one of my aunts is a dentist) and a discussion about a root canal.

“It” being the suckiness of having to study for a major exam during the New Year.

I’ve never felt this way before during the New Year. Well duh la I’ve never had to study for any exams while the rest of the world enjoyed cheesy New Year specials and angpaos and trips back to their respective kampungs. But whatever la.

As Swee Leen’s MSN nick says, it is most definitely the weirdest CNY ever.

I also came to realise that this is probably one of IMU’s twisted ways of telling us, in a rather un-subtle way, that life goes on and holidays don’t mean anything anymore when you’re a doctor. I mean takkan it’s a coincidence that EoS 3 comes right after Chinese New Year and EoS 5 comes DURING the (Western) New Year right?!

Walao.

So I guess that’s another push towards the world of grownups.

(I don’t know what I’m saying)

I am rather incoherent now because I am sleepy, my cousins have just gone home.

I am also feeling rather cheated by 2008. It started off with a rather dramatic bang and promises of a wonderful year ahead and then things started getting complicated and I started to unravel and I thought things would get better with the relocation of my blog.

How naive of me.

Then things started going downhill when shit happened and as a result of said shit, I haven’t spoken to one of my closest friends for 3 weeks and a day.

Things have since then been spinning out of control – with foiled plans and close calls and the likes…

… if all that was what less than 2 months of 2008 had in store for me, I’m not sure I’m going to make it through the rest of the year.

I wasn’t even in uni (where all things happen) for the past month.

Do things move in fast forward when you’re grown up?

:(

Sigh.

Whatever lah. I no mood liao.

Good night.

PS. I apologise for the disjointedness of this entry. iTunes isn’t helping me focus.
