- To treat AF: warfarin, digoxin, (cardioversion)
- Warfarin!
- Furosemide intake can be self-modulated, highest dosage = 3x/day
- “newer” ACEIs have longer half-lives, “older” ACEIs have shorter half-lives, major difference from ARB = cost! “One captopril tablet may cost you less than 5 cents, but a ARB can cost you about RM 1.80 per tablet! HAHA.”
- Pansystolic murmur at left parasternal area = ASD, increase in intensity during inspiration!!!
- ASD: Ostium primum or ostium secundum?! (I’ve learnt this before but I ter-blanked just now -_-)
- OH YES. ASD: must close before 40! Closing after 40 = not closing at all
Hahaha I think I take back the thing I said about the sizeable workload. :P
I will not blog about what I was intending to blog about now because I do not want to jynx anything.
BUT
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~! :D :D :D

On an entirely unrelated matter:
HAHA! At least my lunches are settled when I come back to work in Malaysia because it has been agreed that Ho Wai and I will be working in the same cool hospital and we will page each other out for lunch everyday. Even if he is in surgery. >:)
EH KOO HO WAI. THE PREVIOUS PARAGRAPH IS ALREADY IMMORTALISED IN CYBERSPACE OK.
(Okla maybe except the “even if he is in surgery” part la hor. Lives need to be saved before lunchtime! *superhero music in background* :D)

Random thought:
Now that I’ve been walking around in the wards and around the hospital a lot, I’ve got a much better idea of how things work (in UH). It’s not as bad as I thought it was (though I probably don’t have a realistic idea of a houseman’s workload yet…) and it’s not that hard to survive – as long as you do as you’re told and you do it willingly with no whining.
Your superiors are watching you and gossip travels real fast and they can make your life hell if you displease them. It’s not all that hard to please them either – once you’ve managed to prove yourself they’ll be nice to you.
I’m saying all this ‘cos I just came back for a rest from ward rounds with Dr TCardiologistW – who has a killer sense of humor and who is also very cool: people watch Heroes and Prison Break wan ok!! – and he’s heard stories about this other HO who was tagging along and he was like talking about her to the MO who was with us (after he sent the HO off to get a bottle for a TropT test)… and it wasn’t really very nice…
So – yeah. I guess the whole point of this is: after you graduate from med school you become a doctor – act like one.
PS. I think I’d probably just metaphorically die if I were to be posted to a small district hospital or whatnot… I want to work in a busy government hospital! Preferably in UH! I cannot la. I need to have a sizeable workload so I can feel the job satisfaction every day after I come back home and crash totally after a majorly hectic day at the hospital. OMG I’m a closet workaholic -_-
PPS. I should probably watch what I wish for. :P
