For a (long – haha) summary overview of the trip, refer to Ben’s blog (because I don’t plan to blog about everything, due to my hazy memory LOL)
I shall blog about BOROBUDUR and PRAMBANAN and a wee bit about the Ramayana ballet today!
(some background info before I start anything: I spent 7 days in Jakarta, Bandung and Jogjakarta with another 6 of my friends!)
RANDOM STATEMENT: I shall always associate the smell of horse shit with Jogjakarta. HAHA.
ANYWAY.
I shall skip random nature photos and show you some pics of Borobudur in its full glory!

this was not photoshopped

neither was this

this pic embodies how peaceful it was when we got there. everything was so quiet, it was such a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the dangerous ROADS – mainly in Jakarta and Bandung (*pointed looks at people who are going to comment about ROAD CROSSING*)

i like this pic quite a lot, took it when i stopped to put a new roll of film in my fisheye :)

took a look inside a stupa

saw a few broken stupas

this is the stupa at the top of borobudur (as you can see i sorta became obsessed with photographing the sky, haha)

sorry couldn’t resist :P, not photoshopped too, by the way. my camera rocks :D
I enjoyed Borobudur immensely (ok this is starting to sound like a primary school essay)
It was so majestic and the whole experience was surreal for me because I’ve ever only really seen/heard about Borobudur from my Sejarah textbook (sorry la am not a fan of National Geographic/ Discovery Channel).
… and yes, I concur with Ben, it was indescribable.
I’m kinda sad we missed the sunrise though. :( We planned to go on a sunrise tour but on the way the sky became brighter but overly optimistic, sleepy and blur Michelle still held on to the belief that sunrise wasn’t sunrise until the sun was visible, hence the classic:
“eh the sun haven’t rise yet right?”
as we got out of the van driven by the lady by whom pretty much everybody else *eyeroll* was extremely impressed with (just because she drove a manual Kijang/Unser *eyeroll*).
Anyway it was amazing! I don’t mind going back again sometime in the future. Or maybe I do, because it wouldn’t be so magical then. :/
Travel tip: Go early! Less people, cooler weather, very good lighting for photography! :)
Oh! Last but certainly not least, possibly my favourite pic of Borobudur!

:)
PS. the author would also like to thank Mr Goblok Red for being so patient with her and stopping every 5 seconds for her to snap photos. Turns out that the author didn’t have any real need for Photographer Rehab after all :P
